A 1st pressing of Hard Day's Night on the UK Parlophone label from 1964. Matrix -3N/-3N. Stampers 5-GDM/5-GGG. The font used on the label is the chubby style which is consistent with only the very first pressings. This LP is offered up with both variations of the original cover. The very very first issue -> Ernest J.Day...[Royal Blue colour]. And, in addition, the 2nd variant cover by Garrod & Lofthouse [Navy Blue colour] which is also consistent with a copy from 1964. Also included is the original Emitex inner sleve.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) Superb - just look at those labels! This Lp has been very carefully looked after and has clearly only seen minimal use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. It's really difficult sourcing a 1st issue that plays like this. Interference is minimal - just a couple of light crackles in the isolated place. The actual audio quality is top-notch. Perfect highs and lows and great dynamics. Forget the later copies - this is the REAL DEAL.
Cover[s] (Vg+/ Ex) The grading is for the Ernest J.Day cover then the Garrod & Lofthouse one [same order for pics]. The reason for offering the two versions is that all bases are covered. If you want the very earliest variation - you've got it with the EJ Day cover. If 'top condition' is of ultimate importance to you - you've got it with the G&L cover. Both covers are extremely well preserved which ever way you look at it. Both covers are still nice and rigid and their spines are 100% intact. There's just a tad more edge wear on the EJDAY one and its rear is showing a little bit of ageing in places. The G&L is just a shade better with minimal ageing and very little edge wear. Like I said - you're covered either way! [pardon the pun!]
Emitex (Ex) Very little ageing and no splits. The LP will come housed in an Exstatic inner sleeve.
