The following ratings are used for this record description:
Mint (M) – Absolutely perfect in every way.
Near Mint (NM) – A nearly perfect record. The record should have no obvious signs of wear. The cover should have no creases, folds, seem splits, or other noticeable defects. No cut-out holes, and the same should be true for any inserts, posters or lyric sleeves.
Very Good Plus (VG+) – Generally worth 50% of Near Mint value. May show some signs that it was previously played and/or handled by a previous owner. The record surface may show some signs of wear and may have some light scuffs or light scratches. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration. The cover may have slight signs of wear and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print.
Very Good (VG) – Generally worth 25% of Near Mint value. Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced on a VG record. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, but will not overpower the music. Labels, covers and sleeves may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers attached.
Good (G), Good Plus (G+) – Generally worth 10-15% of the Near Mint value. Good does not mean bad. The record can be put on a turntable and play without skipping. It will not have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear. The cover or sleeve will have seam splits. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.
Fair (F) – Generally worth 5% of the Near Mint value. The record is cracked, badly warped, or won’t play through without skipping or repeating. The cover or sleeve is water damaged, split on all three sides and heavily marred by wear and writing.
