FACTORY Records FACT 50
Vintage 1980's issue • Stereo LP
Soft-textured Cover
NO Bar Code
VINYL is VG+
High gloss vinyl is extremely clean with few very light scratches/hairlines that are almost entirely inaudible. LP plays superb; there is one tiny spot at very beginning of side two that ticks for about 6 revolutions, then the rest of side two and all of side one play very, very clean with only some occasional low level crackle between tracks - Sound fidelity is fantastic: clear, bold and bright with wide dynamics and very strong presence. Labels are super clean both sides.
.
COVER is NM
Textured cover is snapping bright and spanking clean inside original semi-loose bag shrink wrap. No creases, dings or splits. All edges straight, all corners sharp.
STRICT CONSERVATIVE GOLDMINE GRADING
MINT(SEALED) / NM / EX(VG++) / VG+ / VG
VERY RARE Vintage 1980's 2nd Pressing USA issue.
This title was only pressed in small numbers for USA issue, on Vinyl.
New Order's 1981 debut release MOVEMENT
EARLY Pressing before Bar Code...
1st (1981) press had 2 cm 'dead wax' run-out around label. This 2nd Press has approx. 1 cm, with more open grooves and actually BETTER sound fidelity than the 1st Pressing. Probably a late 1981 to early 1983 pressing. (I cannot find data on exact year). I do know that by mid-1980's the back cover of further pressings featured a bar code, which this one does not have.
The artwork of the labels is identical to that of the UK labels except that the US labels are burgundy colored.
Similarly the COVER artwork and text is same as UK issue except UK issue was light blue with blue artwork,
while the US issue is off-white with burgundy artwork.
The artwork, done by Peter Saville, is based on a poster by Italian Futurist Fortunato Depero for the 1932 exposition "Futurismo Trentino". Saville adapted it so that the sideways F stands for Factory and the L (Roman numeral) for 50.
