Rare Strip of Four Thelonious Monk Stamps These duplicate the cover of the 1958 Riverside Records 12-209
"The Unique Thelonious Monk"
The stamps were an advertising gimmick of Riverside publicist Billie Wellington. They were issued in sheets of 100. One sheet was a gift in my days as a radio station music director. They have been in an envelope in the album jacked since 1958, so are in as-new condition.
This may not be the last available sheet in the world but then again, it could be. It's perhaps the rarest Monk collectible there is. I'm down to my last few. The very last will cost more.
Over the years I sold single stamps for $25 each. This is a strip of 4.
This is not a postage stamp and has no official value. The US post office once issued an actual postage stamp honoring Monk, a real stamp, and they are readily available at popular prices.
The auction is for this strip of 4 stamps - nothing else
I've been selling collectible vinyl and shellac as Records For Recollectors since 1963. These are original issues, not re-issues or imports. The vast majority of the surfaces are excellent, near mint, or mint. My personal collection of mono LPs was acquired from 1947 through 1961. There are many scarce obscurities from the 40s. It's all for sale now, one at a time unless a dealer takes it all. All my record jackets have my catalog number on the back, upper right. We welcome requests for future ebay auctions. We have zero rock, zero country, but the best of everything else.
Insured shipping is free to most of the world when bid exceeds $300. Below that bid, shipping is by Media Mail in the US and Priority Mail to Canada. Overseas shipments will be insured when possible but we ship FOB Charlottesville VA. USA and cannot guarantee overseas delivery. We combine shipments to cut postal costs.
This item will be shipped FOB from Charlottesville, VA, USA
where it is available for preview and pick-up.
I don't use packing peanuts - recyclers hate them, and they never decompose.

Two guidelines we use:
We don't say it's antique unless we believe it is over 99 years old. The only exceptions are motor vehicles, boats, radios, and phonographs which are ruled by a different convention.
In a collectibles industry filled with frauds and fools we are never the first and seldom the second. Coins, currency, autographs, photos, and all other collectibles we ever sold are backed with a 100% guarantee of authenticity. That includes the item(s) in this auction.
We use to sell books at half.com under the alias "Sobriquet" until
eBay ruined half.com by stealing from the sellers. (Shame on eBay.)
