GRADING INFORMATION
Record Cover: I provide pictures of both sides of the cover for close inspection.
Vinyl Record: I use a grading system in accordance with GOLDMINE'S RECORD PRICE GUIDES. My records are graded by visual standards under a 100 watt light bulb. When grading a disc, we grade the overall wear of the vinyl, not the label.
RECORD COVER GRADING:
M (Mint): We do not grade covers as mint unless they are brand new and shrink-wrapped in plastic. We almost never find these.
NM (Near Mint): Almost new - still in shrink wrap, but the album has been opened. Less than the top 1% of album covers fall into this grade.
EX / VG++ (Excellent / Very Good Plus Plus) : Slight rubbing that can be seen on close inspection. The next 5% of album covers fall into this grade.
VG+ (Very Good Plus): Cover may have light ring wear or a crease. The next 15% of album covers fall into this grade
VG (Very Good) : General wear, with contour creasing. Cover may have ring wear, seam wear or other imperfections. The next 40% of album covers fall into this grade.
G (Good) : Heavy wear, heavy ring wear. The bottom 40% of album covers fall into this grade.
RECORD VINYL GRADING:
M (Mint): We do not use this grade unless the record is still sealed in its original packaging. Less than the top 1% of records fall into this category.
NM (Near Mint) : A perfect or near perfect record, probably unplayed. The next 1% of records fall into this category.
EX / VG++ (Excellent / Very Good Plus Plus) : A record with only one or two tiny, inconsequential scratches and/or surface marks that do not affect play. The next 9% of records fall into this category.
VG+ (Very Good Plus) : A record with some scratches or surface marks. The record might have minimal surface noise but it does not heavily detract from the listening experience. The next 30% of records fall into this category.
VG (Very Good) : A record with scratches and some surface marks. The surface noise will be noticeable especially during quiet parts. The next 30% of records fall into this category.
G (Good) : A record with significant scratches or surface marks that may affect your listening experience. The bottom 30% of records fall into this category. In general, we do not sell records of this grade.
