An original Mono 1st press of 'The Who Sell Out' on UK Track. Matrix A2/B1 [the very first cut]. The heavy set vinyl [ way heavier than c.1970] comes housed in an original Mono Ernest J Day cover. Also included is the original inner sleeve from the time.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In truly superb shape and these low-mileage copies do not surface that often. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of very light marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are practically silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. A lovely mono rendition just as you would have expected at the time of release - Xmas '67. Most certainly the best copy I've auditioned and is getting close on faultless. Interference was very minor. All we could detect was a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments - i.e. very little at all. Even in those advertising vocal interludes...great clarity and clean audio. Lovely player without a shadow of a doubt.
Cover (Ex) In great condition and these copies can often surface looking a bit aged and tatty. Thankfully, this copy has survived the years in very rude health. Lovely white areas front and back - so it has mostly avoided the ageing that often afflicts these covers. Surfaces front and back are very clean and I can only make out about one crease. There's just a touch of slight sticker residue in one spot perhaps from that sticker advertising the original poster. Sadly - no poster! Edge wear is unusually light and the spine is 100% intact. The cover retains a very high level of rigidity and lies totally flat which, again, is rather unusual.
Inner (Ex-) Lightest of ageing. No rips or markings.
