An original 1st press of THE WALL on the USA CBS label from 1979. Matrix 1F/1E/1F/1E. All the vinyl is mastered by TML [stamped]. The vinyl comes housed in an original heavy-card gatefold cover - 1st issue...with the sticker attached in the top left corner. Importantly there's no bar-code on the rear, and then in the interior the four band members are NOT mentioned, and Gilmour is mentioned at the top of the producer credits [all consistent with very 1st issue]. Also included are both lyric inner sleeves with the lips at the opening. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and have clearly only seen the lightest use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with two slight deviations. THE WALL really needs as clean a copy as you can possibly find otherwise interference just tends to interfere with the listeners experience. Very nice clean audio throughout allowing the listener maximum potential to hear deep into the mix without distracting/off-putting interference. As always I'll do my usual catch-all...expect a few crackles in a couple of isolated spots per disc. The only deviations are a couple of ticks as 'Nobody Home' closes out..and a couple more during 'The Trial', and one in 'Outside the Wall' [nothing that noticeable, really]. Other than that expect a very impressive rendition that requires a serious Floyd aficionado to really appreciate it.
Cover (Ex) In great shape and doesn't appear to have succumbed to the usual ageing process like so many other copies. The sticker has been stuck in place and there is some very light evidence it was in a different spot earlier in time [very low-level]. Clean front and back with barely any marks or creases to be seen. The interior is equally good - no issues at all. Edge wear is very light for this title and the openings are still sharp. The spine is pretty much entirely intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Nice!
Inner (Ex-) Anyone familiar with this release will be aware that the inner sleeves are printed on particularly thin paper and extremely prone to damage. This example looks way better than what usually surfaces. Perhaps slightest ageing. And one edge split - two inches.
