Fancy getting close to the audio quality of a solid-blue-triangle 1st issue copy without breaking the bank? There is a way... READ ON>>>>
An original 3rd issue of DSOTM on the UK Harvest label from Spring 1974. Matrix A3/B3. First released in March 1973 this copy comes just 12 months later..which in reality is very good provenance. How do we know that it's that close? Well, at the point that EMI changed the perimeter text from Gramophone to EMI in spring 1974 they also made a duplication error on the DSOTM labels. You will note how the labels on this copy manage to make reference to "Made in Great Britain" twice! This error can be found on these first new version labels and the error would have been spotted and modified fairly quickly. What these early copies do manager to offer collectors is a cheaper route into a heavy pressed early copy. You're getting within 12 months of the initial pressings without shelling out a fortune. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original cover with the left hand panel sealed. Also included is the original generic white inner with patent inner. We will ship in an anti-static inner sleeve for maximum protection. There are NO posters and NO stickers. So, this copy really needs to go to an enthusiast who is after the best audio you can bag - for the best price.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In superb condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a few very light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Needless to say an early copy preserved to this kind of level is unusual and sounds nothing short of astonishing. If you REALLY want to hear DSOTM properly...just like a copy pressed from within the first 12 months you need to seriously consider this example. It's a clean player and that's not always an easy find. Interference is very very minor and certainly infrequent. You might detect just a whiff of low-level static briefly in one short passage per side. And this is VERY minor. This is about as clean as it's typically possible to go. It will wipe the floor with 9 out of 10 other copies [including Solid-Blue-Triangle!]. Most definitely a keeper for someone just looking for out and out best audio.
Cover (Ex) Again, a really difficult cover to find in top level condition. But this example is really preserved to an unusually high standard. Lovely deep blacks with very little sign of surface wear at all. There's almost no creasing front and back. The sticker on the front is in nice condition and is not peeling away. The interior looks immaculate to me - no issues at all. Edge wear is slight with just a small amount on the spine. The openings are still nice and sharp. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Truly..A beaut!
Inner (Ex-) Light ageing. No splits.
