An original 1st mono press of Pepper on the UK Parlophone label. Matrix 1/1. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original mono gatefold cover with exposed flipbacks and 'patent pending'. Also included is the original 'patents applied for' inner sleeve and the dark-green cut-out [not all 1st copies had the flame inner]. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. Vinyl (Ex) In superb condition and has only seen reasonably light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side, and one patch of superficial scuffing on side 2 [final track]. It's very low-level and completely non-feelable - you can just about make out some affect on the audio [see below] - but it is very minor.  A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with one slight deviation. I'd love to say that every few copies of Pepper plays like this, but I can assure you that one that plays this well is something of a rarity. Due to it's inherent popularity this LP has nearly always seen significant use. Intros and inbetweens, on this example, are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with superb clarity. On true low-mileage copies you can hear deep into the mix with percussion and the looping base notes perfectly resolved. Expect nothing more than a few crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. WYWY and WI64 play very nice and clean, unlike many other examples. Most certainly one of the better copies I've auditioned because they're not always this clean throughout. The only deviation is a couple of low-level ticks and crackles on the intro to "Day In the Life". This, however, is very minor and not remotely invasive. This passage just won't play quite as clean as the rest of the LP does. Overall a very impressive player which is not always an easy find...
Cover (Ex-) In very fine form and has clearly been looked after down the years. Front and back look very nice with barely a crease - just one slightly dirty patch top right [very minor]. The interior looks superb no issues at all. Edge wear is reasonably light. The spine is the one let down and is looking grubby in places. The text on the spine is mostly legible, but some is partially obscured. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Cut-Outs (Ex+) They feel pretty much 'as new'. No issues at all.
Inner (Ex-) A one inch bottom edge split. Little ageing though.
