GREAT CONDITION very RARE pressing of the double album by The Beatles ‎titled "The Beatles' Story". 1976 repressing of 1964 album. Capitol Records ‎– STBO 2222, Apple Records ‎– STBO 2222. Very rare "Transitional Apple/Capitol label variation". The last APPLE pressing by Capitol in the original contract! This is an oddball of sorts. This is a transitional copy where disc 1 is on the Apple with "All Rights Reserved...." text (the last Apple label of the original run) and disc 2 is the orange Capitol label. It is possible that the opposite also exists. The Apple label ceased to be used in the US as Apple Records' distribution contract with EMI expired in 1976 and control of the Beatles' catalogue reverted back to EMI. Capitol had left over Apple labels and apparently used them up while transitioning back to the Capitol label, which at the time was the orange "sunset" label. This was pressed at Capitol's Jacksonville IL plant, marked by a "0" in the matrix. Curiously, disc 2 pictured here on side 3 is the only side that has "MASTERED BY CAPITOL" stamped in the matrix. The factory designation # is located on the inside gatefold, is #16 (Jacksonville). Side1: STBB 1-2222 W8 #2 0. Side 4: STBO 4-2222 A5 #1 0. Side 2: STBB 2-2222 W6 #1 0. Side 3: STBO 3-2222 H10 #1 0 MASTERED BY CAPITOL.
