EXLUSIVE LIMITED EDITION OF 500 COPIES
HIGH-DEFINITION PREMIUM VINYL PRESSING FOR SUPER FIDELITY
This essential LP edition includes Bobby Bland’s magnificent second album for Duke Records, Here’s the Man… (1962). It has the same intensity and variety as his breakthrough debut LP, Two Steps from the Blues, and mimics that album's program of blues swingers, straight blues, and ballads. Here Bland displays his vocal power throughout this soulful long play using his volcanic, guttural delivery to easily work through Joe Scott's galvanizing arrangements, especially on "Twistin' up the Road" and "Turn on Your Love Light." Bobby Bland shows stylistic flexibility as well, expertly handling both T-Bone Walker's after-hours classic "Stormy Monday Blues" and the honky tonk-style ballad "You're the One (That I Adore)." Here’s the Man… is enduring music – passionate songs played by small to midsized ensembles, complete with wailing horns and intimate piano accompaniment. Working with Joe Scott, Bland recorded straight blues such as "Farther up the Road" in 1957, but subsequently evolved into more of an intimate soul-blues stylist. Bland's painstakingly crafted records featured his deliberate, resolute vocals set over a backdrop of dazzling horn fanfares, supple rhythm parts and Wayne Bennett's T-Bone Walker-style guitar.
In addition to the original masterpiece, this WaxTime collector’s limited edition also includes 3 bonus tracks, consisting of overlooked gems from the same period: “That’s the Way Love Is,” the poignant “How Does a Cheatin’ Woman Feel,” and the R&B number “Yield Not to Temptation.” All of these soulful and passionate recordings continue to stand the test of time.
