An original 1st press of AR on the UK Apple label.... What's NOT to like! Matrix 2/1 - very 1st cut. Please note that you can REALLY only claim 1st pressing if the labels DO NOT mention 'Her Majesty'. And this copy definitely DOES NOT mention "Her Majesty". It's pressed on lovely thick 60's vinyl and let me assure you that there is NO BETTER way possible to take in AR than on a clean 1st press..the audio is to die for. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original G&L ultra-thin spine. Even better - this is the very 1st iteration of the cover with the misaligned Apple logo on the rear. There's an original generic white inner sleeve from the time too. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there a couple of light marks per side, and one tiny [2mm] heavier toward the end of the final track [that sounds - see below]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with three deviations. Anyone who owns a clean 1st player will know exactly what I mean when I say there is NO better way to take in this album. Intros and inbetweens are really very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. AR has lots of delicate intricate moments - side 2 is chock full of low-key classics. If you don't get a CLEAN copy it is GAME OVER for a defining-top-level-rendition. But this copy was owned by a listener who only played the records a limited amount and was careful with them. Thankfully that has meant it has arrived in 2020 in very impressive condition, and it now allows a new listener to experience exactly what it was like to hear AR for REAL straight outta '69. I'm really picking up very little background - by and large. Even 'YNGMYM' and "SUN KING" play very nice and clean - which is a really difficult find. The only deviations are one isolated click in "Because". And then five ticks toward the end of "Come Together" - no big deal really. And then three clicks in the riffola full volume outro at the end of 'THE END' - thanks to the guitar shredding it doesn't stand out so much. A beautiful player in every respect - highly recommended.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) Again, the owner was a fastidious individual and not all original AR covers look this well kept. Lovely shiny and flat front and rear. I can only make out one tiny thumbnail crease on the front and practically nothing on the rear. Edge wear is close on non-existent and the openings are still sharp. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and remains a seriously impressive example.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. One side split which has been taped up.
