An original 1st issue of 'BIG HITS' on the UK Decca label whilst riding high in the charts. Matrix 2A/4A. Please note the Decca deep groove which is indicative of 1st issue and was discontinued only a matter of months after 1st release. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Mono gatefold cover - not a peephole version like the later copies. Also included is the original Decca inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection we can only make out a few very slight and superficial marks, and one light mark per side - nothing troublesome or nasty looking. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with two slight deviations. Do bear in mind that so so many of these greatest hits LPs have been played to death over the years. Finding a little abused copy is not all that easy. But when you do boy do they sound good - all in MONO. The test track is 'Lady Jane' ...and it plays clean as a whistle! Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Interference is very limited in nature. You might pick up a few crackles in a couple of isolated spots, but precious little else. The only deviations are a couple of minor ticks in "It's All Over Now", and one tick in "19th Nervous Breakdown"....No big deal at all. By and large this is a really clean player that you'd be hard push to equal let alone better. Please note both labels have been signed in blue ink.
Cover (Ex) In lovely condition and has been looked after down the years. Nice clean front with vivid colours - no signs of fading. A touch of laminate lift on the front [top left corner], but other than that just a couple of minuscule white flecks. The rear looks awesome and there's no creasing front and back [unusual]. The interior looks great too. All pages are still stapled in fine and intact - no signs of heavy thumbing. There's little edge wear apparent and the openings are still sharpish. The spine is 100% intact - a beauty. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A beautiful specimen.
Inner (Ex-) Lightest ageing. No splits.
