An original 1st issue of RS on the UK Parlophone label from whilst charting. Please note that this copy is NOT what you would call a true 1st press loud-cut. The 1st pressing is the 1/1 loud-cut..i.e. '1st day of release'. What we have, here, is a transitional copy as they quickly move to re-cut the record and alter sound levels. Between the 2nd Press 4/4 and the 1st 1/1 loud-cut...you have these transitional copies where one side has been re-cut, but not the other. This would have happened early on as "Rubber Soul" was riding high in the charts. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original mono G&L cover. Also included is the original Emitex inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg+) In great condition and has only seen light to moderate use. Under close inspection there are a few light marks both sides - nothing heavy or sinister looking. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. By and large a decent player - it's not quite clean enough to hit the top grades. But it should satisfy most folks - who are not too fussy. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Expect a bit of low-level interference in a couple of tracks [Michelle & My Life]. It's the usual candidates..."Michelle"...which is seriously hard to find playing clean on any copy. Nothing invasive - they just won't play as clean as the rest of the LP. The only deviation is 3-4 ticks in the opening seconds of "Norwegian Wood" [no big deal]. By and large a solid player with not much to find fault with.
Cover (Vg+) Much better looking than many that surface by this point in time. Nice and clean front with just a couple of thumbnail creases. The rear seems to have escaped most of the usual ageing process. Please note there's some light staining just above Paul's head - nothing that noticeable. All flipbacks are in very good condition and secure. Edge wear is very light and the spine is looking great with just a couple of stress creases. The text is pretty much still all legible. Overall the cover retains great rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) A bit of ageing. No splits though.
