An original 2nd Issue from 1970 on the UK Harvest label. Matrix A1/B2/A2/B3 - consistent with an early 2nd Issue. In fact the 2nd LP actually doesn't have the EMI logos - so this LP dates from the time when EMI were insisting their logo should be added to the label design. Note the earlier copies must all show 'Gramophone' in the perimeter text. This LP has the 'CONTHROLS' error on the side 2 label. The vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. We also have both original Harvest inner sleeves. So, 1005 genuine and 100% intact.
Vinyl (Vg/Vg+) In very nice condition and have only seen light to moderate use. Under close inspection there are a few light marks per side and one just feelable small mark at the start of Side [which does sound see details below]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly VERYGOOD+ level of playback with a few deviations. By and large a decent player - but if you're fussy about background I would probably steer clear of this one. Ummagumma is a very difficult LP to find playing really quiet throughout. This copy actually is pretty decent for the most part, but you will have to accept a bit of background in places. It's mostly minor and does not intrude too much. The only spots where I started finding it more noticeable were those very low-key moments..e.g. 'Set Your Controls' 'Saucer' & 'Grantchester' & 'Garden Party'. And, even then, it's not invasive - just more noticeable. There's also four pops, caused by the mark mentioned above, right at the start of track 1 on side 1. Other than that expect a decent rendition across the four sides of vinyl. Just be realistic with expectations and it should suit most folk who are prepared to compromise a little for an early original copy.
Cover (Vg+) In very nice condition and is looking rather sprightly for it's relative vintage. Clean and flat front and rear that look very nice. Note slight fade at the top edge on the front. the interior looks very good with just a bit of ageing creeping in at the top edge. Very little edge wear at all and the openings are still sharp. The spine is 100% intact and the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inners (Vg+) A bit aged in places and one scribble. But no splits.
