Released in 1962. Genuine 1st press from 1962. CBS labels. Pressing by Phillips. These copies are absolute 1st press and pre-date CBS having pressing plant in the UK. Note the label design is perfectly consistent with 1962 1st press. Large "33" and 'recording 1st pub' exhibiting. And, importantly, the Phillips pressing plant identifiers "420// V" are present in the deadwax. To be genuine 1st 1962 press - it HAS to be a Phillips pressing. Lovely heavy pressings come housed in original flipback '62 covers. All three original CBS inners are present. We also have a pristine Biog Sheet. So, unless I'm much mistaken this is a 100% complete and 100% genuine copy.
Vinyl (Ex-) In lovely condition the surfaces look superb. You might make out a couple of light marks per side - but nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback. Some of these early recordings from the 40's were probably not perfectly clean masters to start with. Overall I think this is a pretty clean player - I doubt you'd be able to go much better. They have clearly only seen light use. Not a perfectly quiet player - but more than clean enough to take in this classic jazz. The warm and detailed delivery is still all there. Lovely player throughout and there's not all that much to find fault with.
Cover (Ex-) The covers will often let the side down on this title from way back in '62. But check these bad-boys out! They're looking very sweet with perfectly clean shiny fronts and minimal signs of ageing on the rear. Only one of the covers has a slight age line running down the opening edge side [really no big deal]. Edge wear is very minor and the spines are 100% intact. Truly they are beautiful early specimens. Overall the covers retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Lightly aged. No splits.
Bio Sheet (Ex) Wow, total time-traveller. Nigh on perfect.
