An original very 1st press of YS on the UK Apple label. Matrix 1/1. Please note both labels mention the 'Sold In the UK ..' statement - this is indicative of 1st issue. The stampers 1O/1H - which is great provenance. This will be one of the very 1st pressings from late 1969. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original stereo flipback cover with two chunky red horizontal lines [='s very 1st issue]. Also included is the original black Apple inner sleeve. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete. Wil ship in a MOFI inner sleeve for maximum protection.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In superb condition and has only seen light careful use. YS is one of the fussiest darn Beatles records there is - and you'll need a prodigiously well preserved 1st press to get half a chance at a decent rendition. Under close inspection there are just a few very light marks per side - absolutely nothing troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with very minor deviation in a couple of isolated spots on side 2. A clean signal 1st press will definitely deliver the goods...but how often do you actually get to witness one? Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. I've listened to a few of these proper 1st copies - and this is most certainly within the top couple I've ever witnessed. Anyone who is into classical - will be well aware of just how difficult it is to find 60's orchestral pressings in tip top condition. All I can make out is just some very low-level 'presence' occasionally during 'Sea of Time' and 'Monsters'. Absolutely nothing that noticeable at all - only very low-level type stuff. You can crank it right up - and it WILL entertain BIGLY. One, that I think, is truly very difficult to track down. I did detect one click and a couple of ticks in 'Sea Of Time'... But otherwise....very impressive indeed.
Cover (Vg+) Truly a total pain in the back side to find in top class condition. I can't tell you how many original copies there are out there that are quite frankly knackered. Occasionally - yes very occasionally you get a decent one. And this one still isn't perfect. It might grade higher still - but for what appears to be a print fault. Check out the front - it does exhibit some light ageing, but is looking better than many original copies. What is apparent/noticeable, however, is some horizontal banding in the white areas. These are below the laminate surface and would have occurred during the printing phase [nothing that anyone post-purchase could have done about that]. Take a look at the rear.... and then take a look at some of the other examples on-line. There's precious little ageing in reality. Many examples will just not look this good. All flipbacks are intact and secure. There's a bit of light ageing on the spine - but otherwise it is fully intact with all text legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidty.
Inner (Vg) In decent condition with a couple of side splits - that have been tape secured.
