A genuine 1st mono from 1964. Matrix 3N/3N - 1st cut. Note that absolute 1st press is identifiable by the wide-body chubby font employed on these labels. Labels mention 'Parlophone' and 'recording 1st pub' - indicative of 1st press. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original G&L cover with the Emitex inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Vg+) Has seen quite a bit of use - clearly. If you are in any way fussy on the looks side of things - perhaps move on to another copy. There's quite a bit of marking so it's certainly not a looker. But here's the thing... If you can compromise a bit on looks - these AHDN super heavy pressings could easily take a bit of wear and tear. None of the marking is heavy and very little of it makes its way into the audio. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, VERYGOOD+ level of playback with little deviation. You've gotta take your hat off to the folk that pressed these records - they were tank proof! By and large a very nice player which is more than capable of delivering AHDN in very fine form. There's not even that much background. Given it's from '64 you've really got to be impressed at the rendition it can dish out. Very little to complain at. Even the quieter tracks play really good.
Cover (Vg+) These '64 covers can end up looking a bit tired by this point in time - but check this one out! - 'very impressive'. Pretty clean looking front with a few creases and a signature indentation top right. The rear has escaped the worst of the ageing process - very nice! Flipbacks are mostly intact - just a tiny amount missing extreme bottom left corner. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) lightly aged. No splits.
