An original 1968 pressing of BIG HITS on the UK Decca label. Matrix 2A/4A. Note how there's no deep groove on the labels - this copy comes from 1968 [two years after 1st release]. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Mono gatefold cover with internal booklet pages stapled in. Note how the cover mentions 'mono' on the spine - this is the original 1st issue design. During 1969 they would employ a peephole on the rear to distinguish between formats - this is not present here. Also included is the original Decca poly-lined inner sleeve used in the late 60's. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen reasonably light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of very slight radial marks on side 2 [all thoroughly tested...this is a heavy 60's press and they do not exhibit any issues at all]. And one miniscule mark at the start of track 'TIME' - is just about feelable and does sound very briefly. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. Ok, so this hits Lp was usually played to death. Even good looking copies often are severely disappointing on the low-key numbers. But occasionally you snag a clean and little abused copy. And this copy will deliver what any self respecting Stones fan would be after. Clean audio, good energy, and clarity into those fussy low-key numbers. Satisfaction often gets murdered - not here - it plays real sweet. The fussy tracks Lady Jane & Tears play really nice and clean {impressively so}. The only deviation I could pick out was a couple of clicks in 'TIME' {caused by the mark mentioned above}. Very brief in nature - and at least it's over right at the outset of the track. Overall this is a tremendous rendition from this true 60's copy. Recommended!
Cover (Ex) Like the LP the cover for this title has often has seen considerable use. But this example is tidy and has been well cared for. Lovely clean and flat front cover. Little sign of fading, creasing, or laminate lift. Very impressive! The interior looks superb with very little wear. The booklet pages are all intact and still stapled in - no signs of heavy thumbing. Edge wear is very slight for this title and the openings still firm and sharpish. In fact, that opening panel is superbly preserved. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) A couple of foxing/age marks. But otherwise looks great. No splits.
