An original 1st press of Stardust on UK RCA from 1972. Matrix 1E/1E - 1st cut. Note the labels mention "Titanic" publishing - these are the 1st copies available. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original 1st issue cover without Mainman Logo. We also have the original inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg+) In very nice condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a few light marks per side - nothing troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly NEAREXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. By and large a very nice standard of playback from this true 1st press. Plays nice and clean by and large. But there are two deviations. The 1st minute of 'FIVE YEARS'. Not sure what causes it - but there's some flutter/interference audible in that low-key start to track 1 [the 1st minute]. It's noticeable due to the fact the audio is low-key. It seems to dissipate around the 1 minute mark - here the audio in the track is building in volume. There's also the same thing occurring at the start of 'Lady Stardust'. Mostly in the 1st 30 seconds of this track - it seems to drop out of the audio quicker on this one. Then there's a few ticks in SUFFRAGETE. They're really my only complaints with the LP. Other than that it's a really nice player for the remainder. Ok, it won't suit a top-level hifi nut. But this will be more than adequate for most folks.
Cover (Ex) Unusual to find the cover in such good condition. Lovely clean, flat, and unworn front and rear. Absolutely superb. Edge wear is very slight too and the openings still sharp. The spine is looking very smart. Text is fully legible - just a touch of light wear over the word 'David'. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) Usually aged and battered. This example has NO ageing at all. And just a two inch bottom edge split. very nice!
