An original 1st UK press of JAZZ - a factory sample from autumn 1978. matrix 1U/1U - 1st cut. "Sterling". Typically pressings from this period are a bit crappy. But this copy - vinyl and cover are of outstanding quality..is it the Queen factor - perhaps? But I was very impressed given it was made in '78. The vinyl comes housed in an original embossed gatefold cover - Jazz embossed front and back. Please note the cover has the 'factory sample' on the rear. Right opening glued shut - left opening is open for the record. We also have the original inner sleeve. Notably the inner sleeve is fully laminated - which is pretty unusual for an inner. We HAVE the original poster at Wimbledon Dogs. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) Wow, so if you're just after the absolute best for audio - this copy could well be the one for you. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of very light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are perfectly quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. You can certainly try and find a better copy - but you will struggle even to equal this copy - it is unbelievably well preserved. All the power and energy of the 1st cut close on to that original master - with a perfectly clean background. THESE are the perfect ingredients for a top-level copy. Plays clean into all areas - even into the low-key acoustic moments. Love it! Nothing detrimental at all - at worst a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. A corker in all respects. FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex-) The cover is a shade down on the vinyl - but very very respectable. Lovely clean front cover without surface wear. The rear is looking nice too with just a touch of foxing at extremities. A little bit of edge wear, but nothing that noticeable. Sharp openings on the left opening. The interior looks perfect. The spine is looking pretty good with all text legible - just some creasing down the length [pretty much unavoidable on this title]. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex/Ex+) Absolutely superb. No splits no creases.
Poster (Ex) No faults. Never been on the wall.
