"8th November 1971" - Original Release Date... So, 50th Year anniversary - in one weeks time.
Are you looking for that perfect all time great copy? Read on... this might well be the one for you>>>
An original 1st press of Zep IV on the UK Atlantic label. Matrix A3/B3 - very 1st cut. This label version/variation is not one of the earliest iterations - but this copy would have been available for purchase very soon after 1st release. The vinyl comes housed in an original cover with the left panel sealed forming a nice solid front. We also have the original 1st issue inner sleeve with exposed flibacks and five credits. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In beautiful condition and it's difficult to find early copies looking anywhere near this smart. It's clearly seen light careful use. Under close inspection there are a couple of very light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level excellent with one slightest deviation. The red and plum copies sound great - period. And I'm pleased to report - this is one of the best examples I've ever witnessed. Upbeat numbers are delivered with energy and bags of low-level detail. But what takes it into the top category? Well, go straight to those THREE very tricky and popular tracks. STAIRWAY/EVERMORE/CALIFORNIA. Each of these tracks, for differing reasons, are terribly difficult to find playing properly clean. But when you finally snag one - you'll have hit the jack pot. The audio delivery on a copy like this is absolutely top-level. With a beautifully quiet back ground to the acoustic numbers - man, you are close to nirvana. Exceptionally clean - very few play like this [truly]. California, in fact, is probably the darn fussiest of them all. But the rendition here is close to faultless. That might well be the cleanest I've ever heard that track. I'm struggling to pick out any background at all really - throughout. This is highly unusual to manage this level of delivery - consistently. A couple of crackles in a couple of spots per side - that's all really. Oh, And one incredibly slight tick in the 1st segment of "Misty Mountain" [during a v high volume section so not noticeable]. Finishing off on the crashing might of 'Levee'. I don't think you could find a better playing copy. In fact - I pretty sure of it. FINAL UPGRADE<<<<
Cover (Ex-) Has clearly been cared for with nice smooth and flat front and rear. Nothing worse than very lightest handling observable [not very much at all]. The interior looks absolutely superb - no issues at all. Only a bit of edge wear in places [e.g. bottom edge] and the openings are still nice and firm. The spine looks well above average with minimal wear. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A very very fine original example.
Inner (Vg+) The surfaces look superb. But bear in mind that bottom edge has split through - I have taped up neatly to secure it.
