An original Philips pressing from 1962. Label mentions 'recording 1st publishing 1962'. Philips pressed some super sounding Lps in their time. In stereo this early copy is mind blowingly good. The tax code is 'O/T' - which is a UK tax code utilised in 1961 [so that fits]. In stereo and coming from '62 that makes this title an extremely hard find. The Lp comes housed in an original stereo 1st issue cover. Cover mentions 'printed in Holland'. We will ship in a Nagaoka anti-static inner sleeve.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In marvellous condition considering it is a) stereo format and b) from '1962'. It has clearly seen light careful use. Expect a few light marks per side - but seemingly heavy or nasty looking. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with only very minor deviation occasionally. Well, somone's done a fantastic job recording Louis on this LP. I'm no jazz expert - but I can easily tell this is no average recording. The fidelity is astoundingly good. Beautiful clarity. Amazing warmth. Total control of dynamics. Transient sounds are extremely realistic. Admittedly I have not heard a zillion jazz records...but I've got a feeling that there's something special about this one. A lovely clean player by and large. You should expect a few crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. I don't tend to find ANY jazz lps from this period play clean but this one does. Expect a couple of isolated clicks in a couple of spots on side 2. A truly stellar rendition of the master!
Cover (Vg+) Given the vintage I'd argue this cover is looking pretty sweet. Nice clean front without ageing or much creasing at all [sticker mark extreme top left]. The rear has largely avoided the ageing process. A sticker removal mark extreme top right corner. But overall it is looking pretty darn tidy. Hardly any edge wear and nice firm openings. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity in part thanks to the heavy card employed in manufacture. A marvellous original example.
