A WONDERFUL SET FULL OF AMAZING SOLOS BY DESMOND & BRUBECK!

The French Lick program was unusual, given that the audience didn’t know any of the tunes performed. In fact, the French Lick set seems to be a kind of live rehearsal for the Jazz Impressions of Eurasia album: “Nomad”, “Thank You”, “The Golden Horn” and “Brandenburg Gate” were all first recorded in the studio for that LP on August 23, 1958, only six days after the Indiana set.

Recorded live at the French Lick Jazz Festival, French Lick, Indiana, August 17, 1958.
