An original 1st Stereo press of AHDN from 1964. Matrix 1/1. Stampers 1M/3RT. Please note earliest AHDN copies are found with the wide-body chunky font. You will notice that this has been used on the side 2 - on this copy. And on the 1st side they've utilised the new narrow-body font. It is, in effect, a transitional copy as they were switching label design. The 'Sold In The UK' statement is present - as is 'recording 1st pub'. Remember, back in '64, stereo was still very much a niche format and these 1st copies are hard to get hold of. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Stereo G&L cover with exposed flipbacks. We have an EMI inner from the sixties - but it's not the Emitex that a Beatles record would have arrived in.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In great condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side. One mark does sound very briefly and innocuously [see detail]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with just a couple of minor deviations. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. A very fine player indeed - throughout. They don't all survive this well preserved. Pretty clean throughout. Just a few minor crackles in 'And I Love Her' and a touch of lightest sibilance. But this track still plays better than you often find. I also detected a couple of minor ticks as the title track AHDN closes out [no big deal at all]. Overall - superb!
Cover (Vg+) Not quite up to the standard of the vinyl, but more than respectable. A relatively clean front - just some thumbnail creases over toward the opening, and a couple of pin prick marks extreme top left & bottom left corner. The rear exhibits a bit of light ageing - but better than many original examples will be looking like by this point in time. Minor edge wear in places. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg) A bit aged. Bag present. One edge split - has been taped up.
