An original 1974 USA QUAD 1st press on Burbank labels. Matrix/Stamper 1A/1A. Etching 'TH'. Burbank labels are correct for GENUINE '74 1st press WITHOUT Warners logo in perimeter. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in a true and correct 1st issue heavy-card gatefold. Note the quad logo bottom left - this is correct for 1st issue. We also have a three section lyric poster - correct for 1st issue. We also have the original QUAD demo info inner sleeve - which ALL original 1st copies would have arrived in. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) A beaut of a copy which has only seen light careful use. Not really much sign of marks - a couple of blemishes very superficial bag-rash type markings. But nothing that will get near the audio though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation. Lovely quiet intros and inbetweens and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Having listened to many a clean UK 1st press I can tell you there's something a bit special about this QUAD 1st - even in two channels. I very much like the mix - highly addictive. All the instrumentation seems well laid-out [excellent balance]. The only noticeable bit of background was in that very long fussy intro to 'Lazy'. Nothing nasty - it just won't play as clean in this sector. As soon as the riffing comes in - it plays sweet. It's acing it across the board. Love it!
Cover (Ex) Usually you might be able to find a nice copy of the vinyl only to find a slightly inferior cover. But for a USA non-laminated cover from '74 I'd argue this copy is in absolutely smashing condition. Both front and rear are almost without surface wear - this is extremely unusual. Colour retention = excellent. The interior is absolutely spot on with no ageing. What's unusual too is that there's pretty much no edge wear either. I can only make out one tiny patch atop the right panel - and even this is borderline invisible to the naked eye. Sharp firm openings. The spine is almost totally intact. Text fully legible. No deformation. Hardly any wear. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity in part thanks to the heavy card employed in manufacture. Superb!
