The until-recently-defunct "Mobile Fidelity Labs" audiophile album vinyl pressings were not only analogue, audiophile masterpieces and connoisseur delights, they have become true pieces of audio history and lore. These majestic recordings received a meticulous and laborious treatment like no other recordings in the entire history of the recorded sound. They are characterized by the massively extended dynamic and frequency range, mastering from the very first generation of original master tapes, almost compulsive attention paid to the detail and integrity of the pressing, and the highest quality of the material (only the "virgin-", audiophile-grade vinyl was used, and most of the titles were pressed by RCA/Victor and/or Warner-Pioneer corporations of Japan, both known for their near-obsessive attention paid to the fine sonic detail and audio craftsmanship); a special proprietary  technology was used to achieve analogue-like, warm, translucent, radiant, vivid and all-encompassing sound. Carl Orffs szenische Kantate „Carmina Burana“ zählt zu den bedeutendsten Chorwerken des 20. Jahrhunderts. Er vertonte hierbei Gesänge aus einer Handschrift mit Dramentexten des 11.-13. Jahrhunderts, die im Kloster Benediktbeuren entstand. Seine Neukomposition einer Auswahl dieser Gesänge stellt das Wort in den Mittelpunkt, das in der Einheit von Musik, Sprache und Bewegung zur vollen Entfaltung kommt. Satztechniken aus der Alten Musik, häufige Taktwechsel und eine starke Rhythmusdominanz charakterisieren das großbesetzte Werk. Eines der Highlights ist der nur mit Männerstimmen besetzte zweite Teil „In Taberna“, in dem der Solotenor den über dem Feuer brutzelnden Schwan gibt („Olim lacus colueram“) und der Männerchor im auskomponierten Saufgelage „In taberna quando sumus“ alle Register zieht. Andre Previns Interpretation nimmt sich phasenweise im Tempo etwas zurück, wo andere Aufnahmen durch schier halsbrecherische Tempi die Intensität der Musik nochmals unterstreichen. Die für zahlreiche Klassikeinspielungen genutzte hervorragende Akustik der Londoner Kingsway Hall sorgt auch hier für ein wunerschönes Klangbild.
