An original 1st Stereo press of Louis & the Duke on Columbia. Matrix 1/1. The label design is consistent with the 1st Columbia label inn stereo. Note the stampers too 1M/1M - this is one of the first ever copies pressed...probably within the 1st five thousand copies. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Stereo copy. Remember back in the early 60's - very few folks had a stereo reproducer. We will ship in a 60's Emitex inner.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In marvellous condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side. One mark right at the end of the record does sound a bit [see detail]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with deviation in a couple of spots. Don't under estimate a grading like this. It's not every '61 stereo 1st press that will get to this level. Highly enjoyable. Very impressive. Plays with an occasional static crackle here and there - nothing remotely unpalatable. Very clean signal allowing you to fully take in this classic title. Great presence. Brass is super revealing. The only tracks I detected slightest background was 'Lucky So And So' & 'Mooche' - very slight and in no way a problem. 'Mellow' is the only let down really. A few crackles in the odd spot and a few ticks later on in the track [cause by that mark]. Overall, a bit of a cracker. Lovein' it! At times  - some fantastic audio.
Cover (Ex-) A beautifully clean and white front without signs of ageing - just sight laminate lift extreme bottom right corner. The rear has avoided the usual ageing process. Surface scuff patch top middle [no bigggy]. Fipbacks looking very tidy and secure. Minimal edge wear and spine 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. Bag present.. No splits.
