A late 1st issue of Wonderwall on UK Apple. First released for the Xmas '68 market - this pressing comes a couple of months later...spring time '69. Matrix A1-1/1B-3. Stampers 1H/1P - excellent audio provenance for this super fussy hifi title. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original laminated stereo cover. We have an original 'patent applied' inner sleeve from the late-60's. But please note that the BESPOKE GEORGE insert is ABSENT.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In lovey condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a few very superficial markings per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with just minor deviation in two spots per side. Now, don't go underestimating this grading on this particular title. A lot of George's output was acoustic lead, but this title is totally acoustic and heavily dependent on Indian instrumentation - it is therefore one of the fussiest damn records he ever put out. Any 1st issue that is remotely playing close to Ex, in my opinion, is pretty darn unusual. All that's needed would be a moderate level of use and it would start ruining the ambiance very quickly. I am pleased to report this is one of the best 1st issues I've had pleasure to spin. The audio is absolutely top draw. Very clean signalled by and large - which is imperative. All I could detect was a few crackles briefly in two isolated spots per side [e.g. opening of 2nd passage S1 & T&P S2]. We are talking 'brief and minor'. An usually clean signalled player. For those looking for audio integrity and the best chance of a super output - this copy is ideal. It's not perfect - but no copy is perfect. Highly accomplished.
Cover (Ex-) Lovely clean and flat front which doesn't seen to have succumbed to much ageing - slight discolouration bottom left corner. No creasing front or back which is unusual. Minimal edge wear and sharp firm openings. The spine is 100% intact. This cover retains perfect rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. A 1 inch. bottom edge split - internally taped up.
