BOSTON 1976 FIRST ALBUM "PICTURE DISC" EPIC 34118 ~ LOOKS GREAT!
ARTIST: BOSTON TITLE: 'BOSTON' FIRST ALBUM LABEL: EPIC 34188 MATRIX: 'P AL 34188 2G' MATRIX: 'PBL 34118 BOSTON I' FORMAT: 'PICTURE DISC' 33-RPM VINYL RELEASE: SEPTEMBER 1976 VINYL CONDITION: VG (READ BELOW) JACKET CONDITION: VG (READ BELOW)
I've been going thru my massive vinyl record collection this summer and pulling out some LPs that I thought that someone else would want for their collection. I've been collecting records for over 40 years and it's time to pass some of them on to the next generation of collectors.
This week on EBay I am offering up my nice old original Picture Disc pressing of Boston's iconic first album, featuring the classic singles “More Than a Feeling”, “Peace of Mind”, “Foreplay/Long Time” and many more. It was a landmark album that still dominates classic rock radio to this day.
The 'picture' on this Picture Disc is the same as the iconic album cover, the 'spaceship' art by Roger Huyssen. It looks great.
This is my original copy that I've had for many many years and it has been hung up on display in various dorms and music rooms over the years.
The record still looks terrific, from a foot away!
The record looks great and still has bright bold colors and displays fine, BUT, it does have a couple of visual 'dings' and flaws in the vinyl if you look closely. (see pics).
This is not a record for playing. Actually it never was. The jacket even warns that the playing quality is inferior.
I did NOT test play this record. I didn't dare put my high end cartridge on this one.
The original jacket is here as well, but it's in pretty rough condition. Some corner 'dings' and a few wrinkles. Like the disc, this has travelled around the country over the past 40+ years and shows some wear, but at least it's still here.
Please look at all my pictures as they show the condition better than I can put into words. As you can see, the Picture Disc itself looks great, from a few inches away.
This is being sold strictly as a cool record room display piece, which it is.
It's been carefully tucked away in my collection for quite some time now.
It looks great on display. The colors are bold and bright and it has the same design on both sides. The only difference is that the songs are obviously different and the matrix numbers are different.
These early picture discs were pressed by a company called 'Pic Disc' which was a division of Fitzgerald Hartley. Their logo is imbedded in the actual picture disc. (see pics)
This is a very hard Picture Disc to find in the original 1976 pressing. I believe there was a 40th anniversary re-issue of this picture disc on the Legacy label, but this is the original OG.
Overall, a very nice copy of this great vintage Boston picture disc. I'm sure you'll be very happy with it, for display, I just wouldn't recommend playing it.
Add this classic, Boston picture disc rarity to your collection today. It would make a great addition, to the wall, of any record collection.
~~~~~ I’m recently retired and downsizing and letting go some gems and rarities from nearly 45 years of vinyl record collecting. Check out the many other fantastic 45s and 33s coming soon to my page!
All records have been carefully evaluated and graded by me. I visually inspect all records under bright light, personally gently clean them with a cloth and then, if unsure, play them on a modern high-end turntable to get a true picture of condition. Please look at all the high-resolution pictures I added. They are all my own and are of the actual record being sold. The pictures are part of the description and can show small details, label variations, and condition better than I can put into words.
My grading is fair and honest and I will ALWAYS refund you for anything you’re not happy with. I have had over 3,200 happy and satisfied EBay customers over the years, with 100% positive feedback, and I have been buying/selling on EBay for well over 20 years, so please bid with confidence!
I'm a 0ne-man operation, this is a hobby, not my job. I do this for fun. I do this because I love music, love collecting vinyl and want others to share in that same experience. I take my time listening, researching, grading, listing and packaging. I will NOT sell any record that I personally would not want in my collection.
As you well know, packing and shipping rare records requires special care and attention, therefore, shipping cost within the lower 48 states is $5.00 on this item. If you would like insurance, or anything faster than Media/Economy Mail, please let me know and I can arrange it for you. I’ll work with you to make sure you’re happy!
I will gladly combine multiple records, or other items on my page, and make the shipping much less for you. I don’t inflate the shipping costs; they are what they are. I strive to keep them as low as possible. See my feedback for comments on my quality packing and shipping.
All items are packaged with sturdy cardboard mailers and appropriate padding. I take pride in my packaging and shipping and package all my records as if I were sending them to myself. I refuse to use cheap flimsy packaging material when sending my vinyl. I treat them as if they were my own and mail them the same way.
All orders are processed and shipped within 2 business days of receipt. We package and ship our vinyl records with the greatest care, using proper packaging to ensure that your rare and collectible vinyl records arrive in pristine condition.
Payments can be made by any of the multiple options that Ebay offers.
I will be happy to exchange feedback with anyone I complete a transaction with. If you would like to get feedback, I ask that you let me know we've completed the transaction by leaving feedback for me after you receive your item, at which time I will do the same for you!
THANK YOU for looking and reading if you got this far. -- JOHN
