I've been going thru my massive vinyl record collection this summer and pulling out some LPs that I thought that someone else would want for their collection. I've been collecting records for over 40 years and it's time to pass some of them on to the next generation of collectors. This week on EBay I am offering up my nice, clean, Promotional pressing of John Lennon's 'Double Fantasy'.
I found this somewhere in my travels back in the day and have never seen another one in all my years of collecting. It seems there weren't many of these made and they were only 'released' in certain markets, mostly Los Angeles and New York. My copy was found digging in the shops of Greenwich Village way back when.
This is an early Promo Copy with a Gold circular promo stamp on bottom left front cover stating "Promotional Copy Not For Sale." It has a gold sticker promoting 'In Store' play and the rare promo sticker on the upper right of the front cover "Contains the Hit Song: (Just Like) Starting Over GHS 2001"
This is an early US pressing with incorrect track order on back cover. Record has the 'correct' song order with "Kiss Kiss Kiss' as the 2nd track.
CONDITION: The vinyl has some light play wear, but no major issues. I'd give it a strong VG+. The labels are nice, the spindle holes clean, but there is a single word name written in ball-point pen on one side of the label. Not a big deal, but should be pointed out.
The jacket has some mild edge and corner wear, from 40+ years of being shelved and moved around the country, but again, not bad for a dark black jacket.
There is a crease on the bottom left of the jacket which does cross thru the Gold Promo stamp. Again, not a big deal, but should be pointed out.
The back has the 'wrong' order to the songs, which was later corrected on the re-pressings. The record plays the 'correct' order.
The original white, double sided inner sleeve with the lyrics is included. It is clean, sharp, no folds, marks or damage.
Overall a decent copy of this rare Beatles and Lennon related Promo record. I'm sure you'll be happy with it, especially at the low price I'm offering it.

Listening to this album today, I think it holds up well. It had a few hits, some Yoko misses, but is a fine overall effort. I think John was onto something here. Of course, we'll never know as he was sadly assassinated only a few weeks after this album was released.
It's fresh to hear again, 40+ years later. It's one of the great albums in the history of music. It won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 1980. It's power and resonance are still timeless and his Love for Yoko, Sean and ALL people is evident.
Add this classic, John Lennon Promo album to your collection today. It would make a great addition to any vinyl record collection.
