A 1st pressing of THE DEBUT from spring 1970 on UK Deram. Matrix 1W/1W. What's particularly nice about this copy is it's from the very 1st stamper! Under Decca's Buckingham sequence - that's the 1B/1B copy. So, there's no going earlier than that! The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original spring cover with format peep hole on the rear and pinched spine. We as have the original Decca inner date coded to April '70. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen the light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of lightest marks per side -  nothing heavy or troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of slight deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. And this is both hard to find and very important on this title. As every jazz fiend knows only too well a non-clean player will soon disappoint. You're going to need a clean player otherwise the quieter moments will soon become distracting. Lovely and clean player throughout. All I could detect was a couple of static rustles momentarily in the clarinet as side 2 starts up. Nothing upfront - nothing unpalatable. Just mentioning for the super critical folks - it's very fleeting. A couple of minor ticks in two isolated spots on side 1. Otherwise - top draw all the way. At points on side 2 there is some uber fussy percussive moments. This copy totally nails it. I'm sure the early stamper is helping - but the preservation levels are right up there too. In combination - bangin'.
Cover (Ex-) Lovely shiny front with just one thumbnail. The rear seems to have avoided most of the usual ageing process. Slight abrasion top right. Minimal edge wear and firm openings. Spine 99% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Sweet!
Inner (Vg) Some ageing, bit grubby in a coupe of spots/ No splits. Bag present.
