An original 1st issue of Zep 3 by Atlantic in the UK. Matrix A5/B6. NOT a 1st pressing pre-October 70. You need to look for A5/B5 for that. But these 'Celebration' error copies come not to long after 1st release and whilst charting. My best estimate would be November 1970. The track Celebration omits the word 'Day'. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Deluxe gatefold cover by E J Day. The spinning wheel is operational. We also have a plastic bag warning inner too. 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In really great condition and has only seen light use. Excellent lustre. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of slight marks per side - nothing heavy or nasty looking. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with the odd brief deviation per side [see detail]. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Tracks like SIBLY rarely play with a quiet background, but this example can do it - which shows great pedigree. You can hear it clean right down into the mix. All I could detect was a couple of ticks early and late in Gallows plus two solitary clicks - [slightly more noticeable]. The run into Gallows is, otherwise, very nice and clean and the track plays superbly. A couple of minor ticks in the opening chimes of Tangerine and a couple more later in the track. A couple of isolated ticks in TTW & Stomp - which otherwise play absolutely excellent. Two solitary ticks in I.Song - a beast of a song. A couple of ticks early in Friends. But this copy is playing ALL tracks really clean and with superb fidelity. And on a title with lots of acoustic numbers....this is very important. If you care about that... well worth considering - because that is most certainly not always the case. Just be sure you can handle the occasional tick - as detailed.
Cover (Vg+) Very nice looking - and certainly above average. It exhibits a bit of ageing at extremities [hard to avoid entirely]. But surfaces are in still in excellent order. Interior looks very well preserved - but again some ageing most noticeable on right panel. Nice firm openings panel. The rear looks really good minimal handling and none of that laminate ripple you often find on this title. Relatively little edge wear.. But it is still solid. Spine looks superb with little issue. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) very smart minimal ageing. Bag present. No splits.
