An original 1st issue MONO press of WTB on UK Parlophone from Nov 1963. Matrix 1N/1N - 1st cut and only really existed at the Nov 63 release date. Note how the perimeter text still reads Parlophone. Please note there are some very earliest 1st pressings with Jobete publishing for Money - which THIS IS NOT. But it comes from literally exactly the same time period and would have been on shop shelves at the November release date. Lovely solid pressing as you would expect. A really well preserved original - not abused like so many other copies. The vinyl comes housed in an original EJ Day mono cover. Typically the Beatles early records from 63 are ALL housed in EJ Days. There's also the original Emitex inner too. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In super condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome though. For the vintage - it looks extremely good. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Given the vintage - very impressive. I'm just getting clean mono feed - and you can hear all the detail well down into the mix. Even the quieter tracks play well above what usually surfaces [just an occasional light crackle or two here and there]. Perhaps a couple of ticks in one isolated spot. To be frank - this is about as good as you can usually find on WTB. Overall a great rendition and much better than what typically surfaces. Remember this is genuine '63 and is now 60 years of age!
Cover (Vg+) Difficult to find in really great condition - but this example is a cut above the average copy. Nice clean front with just one crease bottom left and a couple of thumbnails much nicer than the average '63 copy. The rear has avoided much of the usual ageing process. Thats unusual as over this kind of time frame very few will have escaped the ageing process. If you want me to illustrate this....taking a look at other 1st pressings on line. You will quickly see what I mean. There are , however, a couple of grubby patches - which I will clean and re-take pics [It's only going to improve from here]. Overall the aesthetic is very pleasing to say the least for a proper vintage LP like this. Flipbacks are all well preserved - I will repair carefully the one slight tear top left. The spine is 95%+ intact. Minimal edge wear which is something you can rarely say about a vintage '63 copy! Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Some ageing , and no splits.
