PINK FLOYD 'DARK SIDE OF THE MOON'  COMPLETE, CLEAN, EARLY SET OF 2 POSTERS AND 2 STICKERS.

"THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON" LABEL:  HARVEST  SMAS-11163 RELEASED: MARCH 1, 1973 ALBUM JACKET &  POSTER DESIGN:  HIPGNOSOS STICKER ART: GEORGE HARDIE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I've been going thru my massive vinyl record collection these past few months and pulling out some LPs that I thought that someone else would want for their collection. I've been collecting records for over 45 years and decided it's time to pass some of them on to the next generation of collectors.
I've been listing some of them here on Ebay as I dig thru and decide what to keep and what to pass on.
While digging thru my Pink Floyd section, I realized that I had multiple copies of most of their albums that I acquired over the years and many 'spare' copies of 'Dark Side of the Moon'. I listed a few complete early pressings on my Ebay page, check them out if interested, but realized that I still had several 'extra' sets of original Posters and stickers.
Over the last 40 years of picking Flea Markets, Record shows, Estate & Garage sales, whenever I ran across loose album posters, booklets, inserts, odd hype stickers, and that sort of thing, I would always snatch them up and try to match them up with their correct records. I'm slightly particular about having all the proper original 'inserts' in my records, the way they were originally released.
Anyhow, looking closely thru my collection for the first time in decades, I realized that I've accumulated quite a 'stash' of extra posters and inserts for various record albums over the years.
I thought there might be a Pink Floyd fan or collector that needed a nice original set of the posters and stickers that originally came with 'Dark Side of the Moon' to complete their album.
I realize that many copies of this album found "in the wild" are missing some or all of the inserts. Many later pressings didn't come with any posters or stickers at all.
If your copy is missing the inserts, these really add a nice touch of authenticity, and completeness to the classic album. Plus, they greatly increase the value of any pressing if they are present.
~~~~~~~~~~~~ Early releases of 'Dark Side' came complete with two posters and two colored stickers inside the gatefold sleeve, all designed by the famous U.K. graphics and design company Hipgnosis. Hipgnosis worked with artist George Hardie who created the design and artwork for the stickers, and he helped out with the overall design of the album's iconic packaging.
The two postcard sized stickers have Pyramid themes and have the same 6-panel artistic design, just printed in different color schemes. One is Yellow and one is Blue with golden brown colored pyramids. Each panel on the stickers has several individual letters, that when taken together, spell out 'Pink Floyd'.
There were also two large, 6-panel, foldout posters, designed and  created by Hipgnosis, originally included. One featuring 'green' infrared photographs of the Great Pyramids of Giza, which I can tell you from personal teenage experience, look more 'natural' colored when viewed under a blacklight, and a second poster made up of a collage of squares of photos of the band members live in concert, each square containing several scattered letters, that together spell out 'PINK FLOYD', just like the panels on the stickers.
The very earliest stickers were each individually printed, but by the mid 70's they were printed together on the same sheet, like these.
These stickers are the original darker gold-tone color and are numbered with the album's original catalog number, 11163-2.
Later 70's pressings of Dark Side still had the posters and stickers, but they weren't individually numbered, and the darker gold-tone color of the pyramids on the 'Blue' sticker was replaced by a much lighter tan color. These are the early, darker, gold-tone color.
The stickers in early UK releases had alternating light brown and dark brown diagonal stripes on the back and were marked with the Fasson "Crack 'n Peel" logo. I'm not sure if the Fasson stickers were ever used in U.S. pressings, but in nearly 50 years of record collecting I've never seen them in any early U.S. pressings.
The earliest US stickers I've ever seen had plain Tan backs and were individually printed. Early 70's stickers still had the tan backing, but were printed in a block of two. Later 70's stickers had a white backing, before they stopped being included with the album.
The quality and colors of the posters also changed and dropped off over time. Early posters, like these, have much sharper images and more realistic, life-like images of the band members. For example, Rick Wright has an intense psychedelicized look and stares right into your eyes, Nick Mason also has that wild psychedelicized look.
Later 70's versions of the posters were printed with less attention to detail, the 'red' colors were slightly different, more washed-out, and the detail of the hair, faces and eyes of the band members is 'lost' on later printings. Early posters are much crisper and sharper and have a certain psychedelic 'vibe' to them.
By the 1980's many copies of this album, while still using Gatefold jackets, no longer came with the extra posters and stickers.
The full set of posters and stickers re-appeared from time to time over the years on 'special' releases, but nothing matches or beats an original early set.
This is a nice clean original early set of crisp, sharp Posters and golden-brown, tan-backed stickers. Nice survivors.
You just don't find early originals like these every day and they would be a fantastic addition to complete any copy of Dark Side.
They are all in excellent condition. The posters have never been hung, have sharp, clean, pin-hole free, corners, great sharp printing and bold colors. There is some very minimal folded-edge wear, due to the posters shifting around inside their record jacket on my shelves over the years, but it doesn't detract from the great images. I tried to show the posters fully opened up in my pictures.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As I said, I thought there might be a Pink Floyd fan or collector that needed a nice original set of the posters and stickers that originally came with 'Dark Side of the Moon' to complete their album.
Note that these are the inserts only, NO vinyl record or jacket. I tried to show good hi-resolution photos of the posters and stickers in my pictures.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 'Dark Side of the Moon' is one of the best-selling albums of all time and is often prominently featured in listings of the greatest albums of all time, deservedly so.
'Dark Side' was, and still is, an amazing, well crafted record which flows perfectly from beginning to end. It captured a rare snapshot of Pink Floyd working at the peak of their creativity.
Sadly, 'Dark Side of the Moon' marked the beginning of creative struggles within the band which would come to plague their future work and eventually cause their acrimonious demise.
If you like 70's rock and collect records, you really need this absolutely essential album in your collection, and you need it complete with it's original posters and stickers.
~~~~~~ ** NOTE: I'm selling these rare early Pink Floyd items "AS IS" and "NO RETURN". They are as shown, and as described, and I'm sure you'll be very happy with them.
