 In the mid-eighties, Suzanne Vega singlehandedly blew life into a whole new market of music: that of female Folk / Pop singer songwriters. Early on, she was heavily influenced by artists such as Lou Reed, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen. These influences show in Suzanne’s clever understanding of her lyrical subject. She proved her relevance with her eponymous debut album in 1985, after which a string of bestselling albums followed.

Close Up is a four-double LP series of Suzanne Vega’s catalogue reworks by the lady herself. Every release has a lyrical theme: Vol. 1 Love Songs [MOVLP178], Vol. 2 People And Places [MOVLP231], Vol. 3 States Of Being [MOVLP375] and Volume 4: Songs Of Family. Suzanne reinterprets her songs in a close and personal manner, making the Close Up series an intimate and inviting collection of classic Vega songs.
