A few years after the Skatalites recorded the original ska cut of “Freedom Sounds”, the band disbanded and the Roland Alphonso fronted Soul Brothers were formed. They revisted a number of Skatalites classics and this is the astonishing, previously unpublished take of the Rocksteady version of Freddom Sounds. The presentation of the master-tape suggests it was never intended to be released as a single and was in fact destined for ane LP release, possibly a Soul Brothers version of the Skatalites’ iconic “Ska Authentic” album. This seriously rare recording is a must-have for everyone from the new enthusiasts to deep long term collectors of Jamaican music!
