AN INCREDIBLE MONO EXAMPLE with AN INCREDIBLE HERITAGE - EVERY COLLECTOR'S DREAM!!

This incredible and early FACTORY SAMPLE came from the collection of the late CHARLES FOX; a Jazz critic who for many years lodged at the house of the legendary ALEXIS KORNER. It's hard to imagine that Charles would have been sent this disc for review (as it wasn't in his 'genre' and would he otherwise have been interested in owning it?) so, perhaps, it might have belonged to Alexis and then subsequently found its way into one of Charles' boxes by mistake??? Who knows......

Produced by SIMON NAPIER-BELL and more commonly referred to as the "Roger The Engineer" LP due to the sleeve artwork, this incredible Yardbirds LP features the mercurial guitar skills of JEFF BECK!!  There can be no doubt that this fantastic gem is one of the very best British Mod/R&B/Psych albums ever released!!!  Most collectors agree that the MONO mix, as is on offer here, is the far superior format!!!

The personnel line-up on these truly fantastic recordings is as follows: KEITH RELF (vocals, harmonica), JEFF BECK (lead guitar), CHRIS DREJA (rhythm guitar), PAUL SAMWELL-SMITH (bass guitar) and JIM McCARTY (drums).

So, bid now to win this gem or, after the auction has ended, you can sit back in your chair and wonder how you managed to let this MONSTER MOD R&B PSYCH RARITY pass you by!!! Of course, you could always settle for a later pressing, one of the cheap repros that have kicked around for a few years now or, if digital is your 'bag', a CD - God forbid......

Use the Auctionplayer to sample for yourself just how amazing this LP truly is!!!

As you'll see from the photo, this is unconditionally guaranteed to be the ORIGINAL 1966 UK FIRST FACTORY SAMPLE pressing made with machine-stamped matrices, so you can forget about having to settle for one of those dodgy so-called "limited re-pressings" (many of which are actually bootlegs) that are flooding the market.

A TRULY fantastic and legendary LP, any fan of Yardbirds, Jeff Beck, the Mod, R&B, Psych scenes or 60s music in general will simply have to have this item in their collection!!!!

Grade (labels): As can be clearly seen from the photo, this is a FIRST PRESS with the labels having the all-important blue 'Magic Notes' logo, silver print and 'Sold in the UK.....' text. Both labels are in STUNNING condition; there is absolutely NO wear and just a couple of light spindle marks!!! Side 1 bears a 'Factory Sample Not For Sale' label, supporting the notion that this example was one of the first from the factory and intended for promotional/review purposes!!!

Grade (vinyl): Housed within its original super-crisp 'Emitex' polylined inner bag, this vinyl masterpiece is jaw-droppingly beautiful and strictly graded at MINT minus; just a couple of tiny and feint lines seemingly from withdrawal from the bag. Sitting perfectly flat on the turntable, the deep-grooved platter has a glorious sheen and plays wonderfully loud and clear throughout. Of course, with the hyper-sensitivity of modern styli and amplifiers, any lucky winning bidder would need to accept the possibility of a near 50-year old hunk of used vinyl producing a touch of general noise and static here and there. The stampers, as provided further up this listing, are early!!!! Good luck in finding another one of these nuggets......... they just do NOT turn up very often in this shape!!!!

Grade (sleeve): The original Garrod and Lofthouse sleeve with laminated front, flipbacks and a matt reverse is in overall EXCELLENT ++++ shape!! As can be seen from the pictures, the front is absolutely lovely with just three very minor surface fissures in the laminate at the spine edge.  Otherwise, the spine is crisp and clear and the white matt back is bight and clean!!!! Just a touch of extremely minor chafing at the unlaminated edge of the bottom flipback.  For those who love to know such detail, this is the very first - 'Patents Pending' - press of the sleeve!!!

Why buy?: This is an absolute ICONIC MONSTER of a MOD R&B PSYCH gem and always so incredibly sought-after!! Truly a KILLINGLY RARE LP and ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND in ANY condition, don't miss this incredible example as it might be your only chance to buy an ORIGINAL 1966 UK LP FIRST FACTORY SAMPLE pressing of "Yardbirds" by The Yardbirds in awesome condition!!!

Don't forget: Look to see if I have other rare items on auction at the present time.

Check out my feedback and be sure of a great product and service. Happy bidding!!!

BEFORE you bid, please read the following Payment and Shipping terms very carefullyand, quite simply, don't make a bid if you're not happy with them:

Payment: UK cheques or UK direct bank transfers greatly preferred. Of course, PayPal is accepted but bidders must accept the associated, non-negotiable shipping terms as stated below in "Shipping".

Shipping: Kindly note that the STAMP cost that appears on the label outside of a package absolutely does NOT represent the actual cost of shipping an item!!! For example, each item I sell is carefully packaged inside a PVC sleeve, with factory-cut cardboard stiffeners either side and (to ensure the item arrives in the condition it leaves) shipped individually in a brand new record mailer; unlike some other sellers I do NOT use poor packaging with scrap cardboard - or worse still NO cardboard - inside!

I cannot accept any responsibility for payments/items lost or damaged and not covered by adequate insurance. If you do insist on using PayPal through the eBay checkout, the consequence of PayPal's rigid conditions is that all items must be sent by an adequately insured shipping method with proof of delivery; no exceptions. IMPORTANT: FREE P&P TO UK ADDRESSES (AS REGISTERED WITH PAYPAL) WILL INCLUDE 2ND CLASS RECORDED DELIVERY. THE OFFER RELATES ONLY TO AUCTION ITEMS ENDING AT A VALUE BELOW £51 AND, ABOVE THAT VALUE, THE BUYER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EXPENSE OF SPECIAL DELIVERY P&P (cost £10.95). For overseas buyers it will mean International Signed-For Airmail for any value. Shipping cost to European Union countries will be £14.95 and all other countries £19.95. Due to PayPal seller policies and Royal Mail compensation limits, items above a value of £500 will have to be shipped by international courier at a cost to be determined, based upon final value and destination.

I do NOT allow personal collection.

Note: I'm just a private individual selling off his private record collection gathered over 30+ years. I am NOT a business!!! I unreservedly retain the right to cancel bids from known defaulters or timewasters. The items I offer for auction are rare and of the highest quality, so please bid with respect!!
