From my personal collection, this is the ultra rare original  USA Chess LP-1434 first pressing with black label with silver print. (see photo). This was the tenth record in the iconic Chess LP series issued in 1958/9 and was the first Howlin' Wolf LP. It was made up of previous singles including two recorded by Sam Philips in Memphis and the mighty 'Smokestack Lightin''. The cover bears the address familiar to every blues lover - 2120 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago 16, (The Rolling Stones have a track using the address as a title that was one of the songs they recorded at Chess studios in 1964)
This is a piece of Blues history!  That is why I bought it when I came across it many years ago. Visually, it looked as though it had seen better days with some surface scuffs on one side and light scratches but I was pleased to find it played very well. I subsequently bought the re-issue edition and kept this gem on the shelf. But 'downsizing' means all the vinyls - even the long time classics - have to go. Using the conventional grading system, I would grade both sides  as, 'very good -'  with some surface noise but no skips or pops. (It does play better than it looks) The labels are excellent with only light spindle marks. (see photos)
The cover is the old American type using thick card. The front, as the photo shows, has a few marks and is a bit faded The back has some scuffs and some discolouration with the name of a previous owner on the top left corner. The edges of the cover are scuffed in places. I can only grade the cover as 'good'.  So it is not in mint condition but - try finding another copy of this first pressing in any condition!
