At the time of purchase I was buying any vinyl by Bowie that I could possibly obtain yet work meant I was constantly away from home so I would simply store the albums until later. Many have been stored for more than 25 to 30 years. In many cases they remain unplayed.
Artist: David Bowie
Title: David Bowie
Release details: Deram DE 16003
Release year: April 1967
I obtained this album in the early 1980s. I played it one or two times myself. I believe it had been played before that. I placed the album in a high quality sealed plastic sleeve and stored it upright in a cabinet.
Condition of sleeve: Very Good. "Promo Copy Not For Sale" stamped on rear of album sleeve.
The sleeve is in very good condition for its age. It is made of thick cardboard. The corners have suffered creases, particularly the top left front corner. There is wear to the spines which is typical of this type of album. The label spine has a seam split however the spine has not been seriously damaged. The album title name on the left spine is not clear. This evidence of wear is typical of albums of this age and this type of manufacture. Sleeves of this type commonly suffer from peeling and flaking on the spines. Please see the photographs.
The front of the sleeve looks quite good. Bowie's photograph looks very good and the album title looks fine. There is, however, shelf wear. The rear of the sleeve has the remnant of a stamp "Promo Copy Not For Sale" however the previous owner has seemingly made an attempt to remove that (Deram could have been more subtle with their promo marks). I have seen this with other copies as well. The rear of the sleeve, which is a single sheet glued on the cover during manufacturing, shows signs of shelf wear and ageing. Please see the photographs. Authentic copies of this album have this single sheet glued to the thick cardboard. Counterfeits of the stock copy of this album have artwork that is printed on the thin cardboard sleeve.
Condition of the vinyl: Very Good+ to Excellent-
The album has a beautiful sheen and does look remarkable for its age. Other persons may rate this vinyl much higher however I prefer to be somewhat conservative. The album has been played, although minimally. The vinyl is clean. There are a couple of minor scuff marks visible when the album is held up to the light. The heavy vinyl is not warped. The labels are in good condition, although the Side One label shows a little of the vinyl above the "E" and "R" in "Deram". There are some spindle marks visible on Side A. Please see the photographs.
Matrix numbers: Side One: ARL 7656-1 and Side Two ARL 7657-1 (first pressing). Both run out grooves have the 'Bellsound sf' stamped logo.
Insert: The original London records advertising sleeve is in very good to excellent condition although it has suffered a seam split. Please see the photographs.
Packaging and shipping. Please note the details set out in the Packaging & Shipping section of this listing. US customers must pay as per the Worldwide shipping costs set out in the Postage and Shipping section of this listing. I am happy to combine postage and shipping costs if you purchase multiple items. Records will be packaged very well with proper vinyl record mailers and stiffeners. The vinyl will also be carefully packaged outside of the sleeve in order to avoid seam splits and/or further damage to the album sleeve during transit.
Any questions please send me a message.
