LED ZEPPELIN "IN THROUGH THE OUT DOOR" Original 1979 U.S. Swan Song LP w/outer brown bag. Stereo SS-16002. M/M.

From their inception in 1968, through the decade of the 70s, Led Zeppelin were at the pinnacle of rock's hierarchy. With Jimmy Page on lead guitar & production, Robert Plant on vocals, John Paul Jones on bass & keyboards & John Bonham on powerhouse drums, they epitomized the definition of a supergroup & virtually coined the term of Heavy Metal although their music also contained elements of psychedelia, blues, English folk & rockabilly styles. They recorded 8 studio albums of new material during this time but were brought to a halt by the sudden death of John Bonham in 1980. This 7 cut LP, their 8th & last studio album of new material was released by Swan Song, their custom label distributed by Atlantic Records in 1979. Original pressing with the brown outer bag & the custom inner sleeve. I worked at Atlantic Records at 75 Rockefeller Plaza, NYC at the time & was given this early pressing right after the release of the record. 1/4" sawcut notch on the right side of the cover & the left side of the outer bag (the LP had been inserted upside down at the pressing plant!) denotes that it was a promotional copy. ST-SS-794345-J, "STRAWBERRY" & (PR)P (very faintly) is etched in the dead wax on side 1,side 2 has ST-SS-794346-J, "STRAWBERRY" & (PR)P (more clearly than on side 1) etched in the dead wax.

Cover has a 1/4" sawcut notch on the upper right edge which denoted that it was a promotional copy- rated at MINT. The record looks & sounds great with no scratches or scuffs. Rating is MINT. Colorful Swan Song labels are in great shape. Special black & white inner art sleeve is also MINT with a 1/8" sawcut on the upper right edge. The brown paper outer bag has the 1/4" sawcut on the lower left edge but is otherwise MINT. Only played once when new!
