Product Description
All tracks have been digitally remastered.
Though often lumped in with glam-influenced peers like Motley Crue or Poison, Finland's Hanoi Rocks, more punk than metal, stood apart as the true heirs of '70s glam rock. This 1981 debut album documents the band hitting the ground running on tough tracks like "Cheyenne" and "Tragedy." Hoover guitars and slinky bass lines; tight, giddy harmonies; and Michael Monroe's wet-lipped insouciance are just the beginning of the story--there's a palpable sense of debauched joy in every groove.
The band also knows how to croon, albeit in a slightly tongue-in-cheek way. Their kitschy take on the Goffin/King chestnut "Walking With My Angel," a hit for Herman's Hermits two decades previously, balances reverence for pop history, sticky sweetness, and a winking leer.
