Miles Davis In Person Friday and Saturday Nights at the Blackhawk Complete 4CD. Miles is in fine form on this 4-disc set. It was April 21st and 22nd, 1961 at the Blackhawk in San Francisco that these recordings were made. This is the 4-disc complete collection of what was recorded. Previously issued were single albums, one for Friday night and one album for Saturday, but here you will get 4 full discs of live music. Miles sounded great in '61 and his sound was to undergo great changes throughout the 60's, but here his sound is sharp, precise, introspective and balanced. The other musicians at the Blackhawk were: Hank Mobley on tenor sax, Wynton Kelly on piano, Paul Chambers-bass, and Jimmy Cobb-drums. I own Fri and Sat Nights on mini lp (cd) and Fri & Sat on vinyl, so I'm letting this awesome 4 compact disc complete set go. This is a historical document of a  weekend in '61 in Miles Davis' lengthy evolution as a jazz great.
