Brief Artist & Album/Single Info: "With The Beatles" is the second album by The Beatles. It was released on 22 November 1963, on Parlophone, and was recorded four months after the band's debut "Please Please Me". The album features eight original compositions (seven by Lennon-McCartney and "Don't Bother Me" George Harrison's first recorded solo composition and his first released on a Beatles album) and six Covers (mostly of Motown, Rock And Roll and R&B hits). The cover photograph was taken by the fashion photographer Robert freeman and it has been mimicked by several music groups over the years.
The album had advance orders of a half million and sold another half million by September 1965, making it the second album to sell a million copies in the United Kingdom, after the soundtrack to the 1958 film "South Pacific". "With The Beatles" remained at the top of the charts for 21 weeks, displacing "Please Please Me", so that The Beatles occupied the top spot for 51 consecutive weeks. It even reached number 11 in the "singles charts" (because at the time UK charts counted all records sold, regardless of format). EMI Australia did not receive the cover art, and used different shots of the band in a similar style to the black-and-white photograph on other releases. The Beatles were unaware of this until fans showed them the cover during their only Australian tour, and informed the EMI publicity staff that they were not pleased with the substitution.
CONDITION
Unfortunately I do NOT possess a recording machine of this caliber to confirm wether the Tape actually plays. So this is being listed Purely as a "Collectors Item". I see No reason why it should not play as the tape has the leading edge with Parlophone TA-PMC-1206, Speed 33/4 I.P.S. "With The Beatles" & Recording First Published 1963.
The Outer Case is not Split, Chipped or Broken anywhere. The Tape sits tightly within the Spool. It has stamped to both sides "Made In Great Britain EMI TAPE Recording Tape"
I can ONLY grade this as GOOD because I CANNOT verify that is plays.
COVER: This Tape came packaged within a Cardboard Box measuring 13cm x 13cm x 1&1/2cm. The format is Exactly the same as the album with the Black & White picture to the front and the Song Titles and information on the reverse. There are no Splits, Tears, Rips or Writing anywhere to be seen.ALL of the Printing is Readable and not Faded. There are obvious signs of Rubbing to the front (mainly around the edges of the picture) PLEASE look it my photos. This cover is incredibly difficult to find in Ex+ condition simply because of it's design and age. However I would be happy enough to grade it as Very Good!!!!
COVER SUMMARY: Not seen often, this one is in lovely condition with only gentle clues of age, any blemishes mostly light. This classic cover should (as described) please many collectors.
Now for the EXCITING bits!!!! This Tape still has it's ORIGINAL receipt. It was purchased in the Co-Operative Society in Nottingham and is dated 3/3/1964!!!! ALL of the Text is Readable to Both sides.Because of it's flimsy nature I would grade this as VERY GOOD++!!!!
It ALSO has it's ORIGINAL EMI inner which is an information chart regarding their tapes. I would easily grade this as EXCELLENT!!!!
Grading: In my opinion I REFUSE to believe that there is ANY record that can be truly graded as Mint; the BEST that could be offered is Mint- (minus)!!!! Especially so from the 50's, 60's, 70's or even up to the present date!!!! Even copies bought new today would have some form of imperfection on the Record or Cover!!!! Under that assumption I will NEVER use the word Mint in any of my descriptions and Mint- is the HIGHEST grade I would ever offer. So I will only offer from Excellent, Good or Poor with a -(minus), +(plus) or ++(plus, plus)!!!!
Bid With Confidence: I take great care and pride with what I sell and offer a FULL money back guarantee, in the unlikely event of the buyer not agreeing with my description. As long as the item is repacked and returned to me in the same condition it was sent.
Postage: All of my records will be professionally packaged. I use Dependapack Vinyl Record Mailers that have locking tab closures with strong locking tab record wraps. I also use corrugated record stiffeners and extra strong tape marked with Handle With Care. This is to ensure your Valuable Record/s are protected whilst in transit. I will add a nominal fee of .40p to my postage and packaging for this service. Any Record valued at £100 or more I would prefer to send by Special Deliver/International Signed For.
