"Love Will Tear Us Apart" is a single by the English band , released in June 1980. The song was written in August 1979; its lyrics were inspired by lead singer ' marriage problems and frame of mind before his suicide in May 1980. Following the suicide of Curtis, his wife Deborah had the phrase "Love Will Tear Us Apart" inscribed on .
