QUINTRON finds the Oblivians teaming up with New Orleans organ wiz Quintron to tackle a set of classic Southern gospel covers. While the Oblvians music is better known for soundtracking nights of old-fashioned sinning, the band ignites these songs with precisely the sort of energy and soul they require, even if its origin might not be what the good Lord had in mind. It is clear that the band has a genuine appreciation for the repertoire they're covering here, and that they're not out to mock devotion. Rather, they offer up punk rock as the non-believer's gospel.
