Operation Ivy - Energy LP. 1st Pressing (Laytonville) Lookout Records. Punk Ska Rare. Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Media Mail.
The 1st pressing of this record has a Laytonville CA address for Lookout! Records on the back cover and "March 89" printed on the spine with the rest of the titles. Later represses have a Berkeley Address for Lookout! Records on the back cover.
According to Discogs.com there was more than one pressing with the Laytonville address, however, the Berkeley Address was in use on pressings as early 1989...the same year as the original pressing. Therefore, I find it hard to believe that there were more than 2 pressings with the Laytonville address, and possibly only one. IF there are multiple pressings with the Laytonville address it is impossible to distinguish between them. At any rate, 2 things are certain: 1. All pressings with a Berkeley address are represses. 2. Anyone selling a copy without showing a picture of the back cover is hoping to deceive you.
The record is in amazing condition with a only a small handful of extremely light scratches. Most of them actually look closer to smudges than actual scratches. The record looks like it was never played that much and likely still sounds close to new. VG+++ / EX
The insert is in Near Mint condition with not even vague signs of light handling. The only blemish on it at all is a tiny crease in one corner. (see pictures)
The cover has a bit more wear than the vinyl or insert but it is also still in great shape. There is Light ring wear on the front and Light, leaning towards Moderate, ring wear on the back. 2 of the corners have long (4 inches or so) veins, but they are very faint on one of those corners and not particularly ugly on the other. The back has significantly long veins on 3 corners, however, they are all faint. All 4 corners have only Light wear. The spine edge has only Light wear and all the title text remains intact. Cover easily rates VG despite the minor overall wear. Probably more like VG+
Grades that I use are G-, G, G+, G++, G+++, VG, VG+, VG++, VG+++/EX, NM. I won't be describing anything as M or MINT unless it is unopened and the packaging is completely unblemished. Records that have never been played but HAVE been opened, will be described as Near Mint or NM. These are the adjectives that I use when describing damage: Very Light, Light, Moderate, Severe, Catastrophic. To describe damage in between those ranks I say things like: "Moderate leaning towards Severe," "Moderate leaning towards light," or "In between Light and Moderate"...just for example.
