The Record begins with A sudden upsurge ofThe groovesof your cranial nerves. This audible odyssey lasts throughout The FirstofThe record - “I'mIn Your Mind ”,“ I'm notIn Your Mind ", Leading single" Cellophane ", and"I'm In Your Mind Fuzz " - Allesof which ooze and melt into One another untilYou 're left quite paranoid that your ears have been snorting DMT whileYou weren't looking.
There's A change ofOnThe spacey "Empty",A bass driven waltz in which singer Stu Mackenzie shows offHIS surfy vocal range, whichCan climbFrom A disingenuous snarlToA pitch-perfect high note inAFlash . "Hot Water" presents A flume ofA brief breather before “Am I In Heaven” bringsUs back intoThe customary territoryof musical mind-fuckery.
The album concludes On A different note altogether. Perhaps its stand out moment comes On TheA weeping guitar with Mackenzie'sFragile vocal turn. This is followed by The insidiously sleazy yet soft guitar and flute number, "Satan Speeds Up" before "Her & I (Slow Jam II)" plays out TheA delightfully sun-soaked soloof wah guitars.
