For your consideration is a rare vintage 10 inch 78 rpm by Judy Garland entitled Over the Rainbow b/w The Jitterbug. Over the Rainbow is one of the most iconic songs of the 20th century, being easily recognisable and placeable by just about anyone living today, even over 80 years after its original release. The B-side however, is much more obscure and actually never even made it into the Wizard Of Oz. The song, which was a nod to the swing dance craze going on at the time, was featured in a scene where Dorothy and company are attacked by insects that give them "the jitters." When the initial run time of the film was deemed to long, this scene was the first to go, as there was fear that it could date the film after jazz / jazz dancing fell out of favour and due to the dance's association with mixed race, alcohol fueled Harlem night life. Only a partial demo of the scene exists today. Very interesting and historical item!

Please keep in mind that rather economical equipment was used and 78s only received a light cleaning. For the highest fidelity reproduction results, a correct sized, well maintained stylus should always be used and antique records should also always receive a deep cleaning with a stiff bristled brush and a non-alcohol based soap. I do not provide grading beyond what is required by eBay. All 78 rpm records, vinyl or shellac, will be shipped sandwiched between either thick cardboard or some spare 78 rpm discs to provide substantial reinforcement for uneven pressure placed on a package during shipment. The record sandwich is then suspended in packing peanuts on all sides. Packing peanuts are the optimal durable memory material as they will insulate your item against any acute forces such as a fall or any type of blow and unlike bubble wrap will not pop and lose their shape if subjected to a strong force.
