Zorro And The Blue Footballs - self-titled LP - Burdett Music - Fayetteville, Arkansas based band.
Zorro began when singer / clarinetist Windy Austin started jamming in
Fayetteville with saxophonist Mike Mahoney. Along the way, they picked
up a few more musicians: guitarist Bob Meyers - bassist Joe Ellis
(allegedly the only white man ever to play with Arkansas bluesman Little
Guitar Picket) and drummer Ron Brooks.
Their humor attracted Frank Zappa, who asked them to open for his
1977 tour. They would continue to tour solo throughout the Deep South
and the Midwest. They would join talents with the Fayetteville Dance
Center in 1981 for a dance concert choreographed to Zorro music
Two members had small
roles in CBS' "The Blue and the Gray", a television miniseries that
first aired on CBS in three installments on November 14, November 16,
and November 17, 1982. The also appeared in the 1976 Peter Fonda movie
"Fighting Mad', and had a Music video on MTV with their song "Everybody
Eats When They Come To My House."
